## Windows 11 Update Linked to SSD Disappearance Issues
Microsoft is investigating reports that a recent Windows 11 update is causing some solid-state drives (SSDs) to become inaccessible to the operating system. The issue, first highlighted by user Necoru_Cat on X (formerly Twitter), appears to be impacting users following significant data transfers to near-capacity SSDs. Both Microsoft and SSD controller manufacturer Phison are currently examining the problem.
### The Bug’s Behavior
The reported bug seems to manifest after transferring more than 50GB of data to an SSD that is more than 60% full. In some instances, the drive remains unavailable even after a system restart. Several users have reported triggering the issue while downloading large files, including games such as Cyberpunk 2077.
### Industry Response & Mitigation
Phison has confirmed the issue represents “industry-wide effects” on storage devices and is reviewing its affected controllers. Microsoft acknowledged the reports and stated it is investigating the matter in collaboration with its partners. As a temporary solution, users are advised to uninstall the latest Windows 11 update (KB5063878 and KB5062660) and to refrain from transferring large files to their SSDs until a fix is available.
