Guangzhou Auto Group Secures L3 Autonomous Driving License for A800 at Upcoming Guangzhou Motor Show

IT Home reported on November 19 that Guangzhou Auto Group (GAC) recently received a license for road testing of its flagship sedan, the Aion A800. This marks the first approval in China for L3 autonomous driving tests at speeds up to 120 kilometers per hour.

The A800 is developed through deep collaboration with Huawei and features advanced technologies such as HUAWEI ADS 4 and HarmonySpace 5, making it a pioneering vehicle in the domestic market. The car will be showcased at the upcoming Guangzhou International Auto Show on November 21.

Earlier this year, the A800 was unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show with unique design features such as tri-flip LED headlights and a 6-meter-long light strip. It also integrates GAC’s Xing Ling safety system and Huawei’s Qian Kun intelligent driving technology.

The vehicle is equipped with 34 high-precision sensors, including millimeter-wave radars, high-definition cameras, lidar systems, and more. It comes with a global first three-sided flip LED headlight design and an option for additional luxury features such as roof-mounted LiDAR and unique wheel designs.

Powered by a 1.5-liter engine paired with a 400V lithium iron phosphate battery pack from Jiangsu Zhengli New Energy Technology Co., Ltd, the A800 promises to deliver an efficient driving experience alongside its advanced autonomous features.
