The Huawei XMAGE Mobile Photography Awards, one of the most prestigious competitions for mobile photography since 2017, announced its winners at a ceremony held in Paris. The competition saw entries from over a hundred thousand participants across more than 170 countries.
Tokat-based photographer Mehmet Emin Coruş secured a place among the finalists for the Photographer of the Year award with his second-place finish globally. His winning photograph was taken in the Pazar district of Tokat, showcasing a farmer guiding a newborn lamb to safety from cold weather in a barn, closely followed by its mother.
The jury praised Coruş’s image for its simple yet effective portrayal of the bond between humans, animals, and nature. This achievement marks his international recognition as one of the most successful photographers at this year’s competition, following his previous wins with Huawei in Turkey in 2021 and 2022.
Unable to attend the ceremony, Coruş sent a video message expressing gratitude for turning his early career dreams into reality through mobile photography. He emphasized that while this award is an achievement for him personally, it also symbolizes the potential of anyone who creates with their available tools. Additionally, two other Turkish photographers, Hürdoğan Keskin and Koray Özpalamutçu, had their works featured among the top 100 photographs globally in the XMAGE 100 list.
