HONOR Unveils ‘Robot Phone’ with Pop-Out Gimbal Camera

HONOR revealed its latest smartphone design, dubbed the ‘Robot Phone,’ at the HONOR User Carnival in China. The phone boasts a unique feature—a pop-out gimbal camera that retracts into the device’s body.

The Robot Phone is set to be released globally during MWC 2026 and will come in black, white, and gold colors. Depending on the color choice, the back of the phone can either feature faux leather or glass material, potentially affecting its weight.

During the event, attendees got a closer look at various design iterations of the Robot Phone. The rear camera setup includes a large horizontal module similar to that seen on high-end iPhone models and an aluminum chassis with a glass window below. A distinctive feature is the gimbal camera mounted on a robotic arm, which retracts into a dedicated space when not in use.

According to HONOR, the Robot Phone will incorporate several AI features to enhance user experience and allow for precise movement of the gimbal camera based on what it captures. However, concerns about durability with moving parts remain.
