Huawei has introduced its latest high-end wireless earbuds, the FreeBuds Pro 5, as a competitor to Apple’s AirPods Pro 3. Priced at $200, the new model stands out with features like lossless audio technology, enhanced noise cancellation capabilities, and advanced drivers.
The FreeBuds Pro 5 is the first earbud in the world to feature dual-unit, dual-channel active noise cancellation. By using two acoustic units, it generates reverse sound waves effectively reducing ambient noise. The earbuds use an ultra-linear double-magnet circuit that can go as low as 10 Hz, while a fine micromembrane treble driver supports frequencies up to 48 kHz.
The most impressive technical innovation of the FreeBuds Pro 5 is its NearLink Audio support. The E2.0 short-range wireless audio technology enhances physical transmission speeds up to 16 Mbps with the Kirin A3 processor, and it offers dual-band communication on 2.5 GHz – 5.8 GHz bands for stable connections in crowded signal areas such as metro stations or airports. With L2HC5.0 codec, lossless audio transmission at a rate of 96 kHz/24-bit is possible.
The new MIMO AI model detects ambient noise instantaneously and automatically adjusts to the most appropriate cancellation level, enhancing noise reduction by up to 220% compared to previous models. The FreeBuds Pro 5 can last for up to 6 hours with active noise cancellation enabled or up to 9 hours when it’s turned off, totaling 33 hours of use with a charging case.
Additionally, the earbuds are water and dust resistant with an IP67 certification. They also come equipped with intelligent volume adjustment, dual-sided silent calls, advanced recording features, high-speed data transfer Star-shine connection, AI summarization, and an AI free-hands conversation mode to enrich user experience.
