IT Home reports that Huawei has released HarmonyOS 6.0.0.115 SP16 to a range of devices, including the Pura 80 series and the nova 14 Pro / Ultra smartphones.
The update includes a new feature called ‘Smooth Connect Offline Communication’, which allows users to communicate without an internet connection by sending messages, making voice calls, or using group intercom functions. This function can also display real-time locations of contacts during communication sessions, and it works within the range of Starlink (StarFast) connectivity.
The supported models for this new feature include Mate 80 series, Mate X7 series, Mate XTs, Pura 80 series in full, nova 14 Ultra, and nova 14 Pro. Users must be Smooth Connect contacts to use the offline communication function, which can work when either party has no internet access or both are offline within Starlink range.
The update also includes other new features such as setting one-time view permissions for shared encrypted files, pictures, videos, and audio clips, as well as a ‘moment collection’ feature in the gallery app. The size of this update package is approximately 1.69GB.
