Airbnb is becoming more social by allowing users to connect with fellow travelers

Airbnb announced new features today that will help users connect with fellow travelers while participating in the same activity. The company is also improving search by suggesting properties that you might have missed due to your filters, and has redesigned the Maps view to let you search for points of interest such as nearby landmarks, attractions, and restaurants. Earlier this year, Airbnb launched Experiences, activities like cooking classes and guided tours that travelers can book and enjoy with other travelers. At the time, the company hinted that the Airbnb app would lean toward fostering connections with fellow travelers. The company is now releasing a few features in that direction. First, when you book an experience, you will be able to see the names of other people who are in the...

Whether you use Home Assistant or any other smart home software, you might run into network issues as the volume of devices grows. Network reliability is crucial to ensure that your smart home and automations work smoothly. Those smart home devices, at times, turn radio silent, keep dropping connections, or become unresponsive. Pebble is back on the App Store, and it’s giving your old watches life again

Have you got an old Pebble device gathering dust somewhere? Well, it’s time to get it back out because the Pebble app is back and it’s breathing new life into old watches. Founder Eric Migicovsky announced on X that the Pebble app has returned to both the App Store and Google Play, and it’ll work with every Pebble device ever made. This is just the next step in Pebble’s revival. After being shut down following a sale to Fitbit nearly ten years ago, Pebble has announced two new devices and relaunched its app, giving you access to 2,000 apps, 10,000 watch faces, and the ability to revive old tech – even with your old Pebble login. This is pretty remarkable given most gadgets these days only have developer support for a number of years. Pebble’s dedication to its community might be in part du...

Here’s how fast AAWireless TWO+ switches between wireless Android Auto and CarPlay [Video]

AAWireless TWO+ is finally here to bring CarPlay support to what we think is the best wireless Android Auto adapter, and the way and speed at which it works is part of what makes it stand out from the crowd. Wireless Android Auto adapters started with AAWireless, but they’ve become a bit of a commodity at this point. You don’t have to go searching far to find one, nor do you even need to spend all that much money. The same can be said about CarPlay adapters, but there are not quite as many options for getting both platforms in one. So why bother with AAWireless TWO+? I think there are a couple of key reasons. First and foremost, there’s just the polish in the experience. AAWireless has spent the past few years building out the foundation of this product. The experience of using one of thes...

The new Xbox is not an Xbox

Your TV is an Xbox. Your computer is an Xbox. Your phone, your crummy Android tablet, your car’s infotainment display, oops all Xboxes. If Microsoft is right about the future of gaming, your game console might soon be an Xbox even if it’s not an Xbox. It’s an interesting idea, and raises some fascinating questions about the gaming industry. Here’s one of those questions: shouldn’t an Xbox play Xbox games? Here’s another: are they ever going to be any good? The new Xbox is not an Xbox On The Vergecast: the handheld consoles we’re still waiting for, AI and our brains, and hybrid gadgets. The 8 best games from Steam Next Fest that are now on my wishlist

The 2025 Steam Next Fest just wrapped up, and we just saw some of the most incredible indie and AA games that are on the horizon in the gaming landscape. There were more games in the Next Fest that you could shake a controller at, and I think it's pretty safe to say that the future of small indie games from all genres — those forgotten and those resurgent — is safe. Nothing sells you on a game better than a well-put-together demo, and the Next Fest had plenty. At this point, the only one unhappy with how diverse and promising this year's Steam Next Fest was, is my wallet. My wishlist, on the other hand, has expanded by a whopping number of games I simply can't wait to play by myself or with my friends, and they should be on yours, too. My Little Cafe Nightmare is a dark but cozy ride The o...

Spiro raises $100M, the largest-ever investment in Africa’s e-mobility

Africa’s electric mobility story has often been one of promise over progress. Infrastructure is scarce, power grids are unreliable, and most markets still run on cheap imported motorcycles. But Dubai-headquartered Spiro has spent the past two years trying to rewrite that narrative. The company just announced a $100 million investment round led by The Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA), the development arm of Afreximbank. The raise marks Africa’s largest-ever EV mobility investment and cements Spiro as the continent’s most aggressive electric motorbike company. Spiro says it plans to deploy more than 100,000 electric bikes across Africa by the end of 2025, a 400% year-over-year jump that underscores its ambition to dominate a category long considered too fragmented to scale. Spiro...
