The pre-built system in question, featuring top-of-the-line components.
A Redditor recently faced a dilemma when Corsair canceled their order for a pre-built gaming PC, only to see the price increase by $700 overnight. Thankfully, the company has now reversed course.
The user ordered a Corsair Vengeance a5100 gaming PC with an AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card, 32GB DDR5-6400 RAM, and a 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD for $3,499. However, on New Year’s Day, the order was flagged by Corsair’s fraud detection system and canceled.
Worse still, when the user tried to reorder, they found out that the price had jumped to $4,299 — a significant increase of $700. This unexpected surge in cost left many users frustrated, especially considering the current high prices for memory components.
Upon noticing the uproar on Reddit, a Corsair Community Captain reached out to the user and explained that their order was mistakenly canceled due to a pricing error. The company sent a coupon allowing the Redditor to purchase the PC at the original sale price of $3,499.
This move by Corsair demonstrates strong customer service, especially as they’re also monitoring the order to ensure it reaches its destination without any issues.
The Redditor noted that while building a PC from scratch is possible and can be less expensive, they prefer pre-built systems due to their ease of use and peace of mind regarding warranties. The premium for Corsair’s Vengeance series seems justified if you’re not comfortable with the build process.
The price increase was due to the end of holiday deals and normal pricing being reinstated.
Yes, Corsair sent a coupon allowing the user to purchase at the original $3,499 sale price.
Building a PC can be less expensive but involves more work and risk. Pre-built systems offer ease of use and warranty coverage for peace of mind.
