Rumored new Honor smartphone featuring a large battery
Honor is reportedly gearing up to launch its second smartphone equipped with a massive 10,000mAh battery, marking an unprecedented expansion in the brand’s lineup of power-packed devices. This comes shortly after the certification of the Honor Power 2, which boasts a similarly large battery capacity.
The latest development was shared by Digital Chat Station (DCS), a reputable technology tipster with a track record of accurate leaks about upcoming Huawei and Honor products. According to DCS, the second device is already in trial production in China, suggesting that its release might be imminent.
The leaked specifications reveal that this new Honor smartphone features a battery rated at 36.88Wh with a typical capacity of around 9755mAh to 9900mAh. While the exact model remains unclear, these figures strongly suggest that the device will indeed meet or exceed the 10,000mAh threshold.
The rise in silicon–carbon battery technology has enabled smartphones to pack in more power without significantly affecting their size or weight. Honor appears keen on capitalizing on this advancement by offering a smartphone with an impressive energy reserve, catering to users who demand extended usage times and reduced charging needs.
One of the speculated models is the Honor GT 2, which was rumored in October to feature a battery capacity exceeding 9000mAh. This phone might run on last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, while the GT 2 Pro could be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip.
The lineup is also expected to include advanced features such as a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and full water resistance, possibly achieving IP68 or even IP69 ratings for enhanced durability. These specifications hint at Honor’s ambition to deliver both power and performance in their new device.
The rumored Honor Power 2 features the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chip, paired with a 6.79-inch LTPS OLED display offering a resolution of 1.5K. Notably, despite its substantial battery capacity, the phone is said to be just around 8mm thick, showcasing an impressive balance between form and function.
The device also includes an under-display optical fingerprint sensor, adding convenience for users while maintaining sleek aesthetics. Additionally, it’s designed with a drop-resistant body, ensuring durability in everyday use scenarios.
Honor’s push towards 10,000mAh smartphones demonstrates the brand’s commitment to addressing user needs for extended battery life without compromising on performance or design. As more details emerge, it will be fascinating to see how Honor continues to innovate in this space.
