IT Home news reports that the Huawei AR measurement app has made a comeback, now available across all models of the new Mate 80 series phones running HarmonyOS NEXT (versions 5 and 6). Previously introduced during the EMUI era, this feature enables users to measure object lengths, areas, volumes, and even human body dimensions.
IT Home’s hands-on testing revealed that while the AR measurement app had briefly disappeared from the HarmonyOS NEXT system, it is now fully supported again. The Mate 80 series devices (HarmonyOS 6.0.0.115 SP8 version) have been equipped with this functionality upon launch. Notably, the standard Pura 80 model comes factory-installed with the Huawei AR measurement app (other models in the Pura 80 lineup do not). However, it is important to note that this application does not allow sharing and cannot be found or installed via the AppGallery, thus remaining unavailable on other device types.
According to analysis based on official information from Huawei alongside historical model functionality data, devices currently supporting AR measurement under HarmonyOS NEXT include Mate 80 series, Pura80 standard version, and Mate 70 Air. Older models like the Mate 60 and Pura 70 also supported this feature when running HarmonyOS 4.X versions.
This suggests that future updates may enable AR measurement capabilities for older device models as well.
