Huawei has once again topped the latest smartphone camera rankings from independent testing organization DXOMARK. The Huawei Pura 50 Ultra, released by the company in June 2025, has held the number one position for over four months. This result reflects the brand’s long-standing success in mobile photography, particularly noteworthy given the increasingly competitive market.
Huawei’s achievement is attributed to both technical superiority and consistent efforts to enhance the user experience. The company aims to deliver higher quality standards with each new model, exemplified by the Pura 50 Ultra’s balanced combination of hardware and software. Its sensor architecture and color processing algorithms contribute to more natural-looking results, while an automated optimization system maintains consistent image quality across various shooting conditions.
The Huawei Pura 50 Ultra features a 1-inch Ultra Light HDR Camera, a switchable dual telephoto camera, a Prestige Golden Vegan Leather Design, 16 GB of RAM + 512 GB of storage, and supports 100W SuperPower fast charging. DXOMARK awarded it a total score of 175 in its camera tests, achieving 180 points in the “Photo” category, 168 in the “Portrait” category, and 147 points for “Low Light” performance.
Huawei’s investments in mobile photography extend beyond the Pura 50 Ultra; its previous flagship, the Huawei Pura 40 Ultra, currently holds the fifth position in the rankings. The XMAGE imaging system, combining software-based enhancements with hardware, contributes to refined results with each generation. The company focuses on continuous development of image processing software, enabling users to achieve realistic color tones and balanced contrast.
Current DXOMARK results confirm Huawei’s position as a reference brand in mobile camera performance. The company intends to continue its leadership by developing sensor architectures and computational photography systems, with wider integration of XMAGE technology expected to further enhance its impact on the mobile imaging landscape.
