Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max Teardown Reveals CNC Aluminum Housing and Innovative Camera Module

A teardown of the Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max conducted by a user in China has provided fascinating insights into the device’s construction and materials. The Mate 80 Pro Max surpasses its predecessor, featuring a unibody aluminum housing created through Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining technology, an iconic dual-ring design, and a newly developed dual-zoom camera system that sets new standards in the premium smartphone segment.

The device’s body is crafted from a single block of aluminum alloy, precision-finished using CNC technology to achieve millimeter-accurate shapes without manual finishing. This manufacturing process ensures high stability and durability. The one-piece design offers protection against drops, corrosion, and potentially water ingress, although exact certification details are yet to be confirmed. Integrated clips and mounting points further enhance the robustness of the device.

The rear of the Mate 80 Pro Max features a striking dual-ring pattern that visually resembles an infinity symbol. The development of the dual-ring design posed challenges due to the need for precise calculations when combining aluminum and glass fiber to prevent NFC or wireless charging disruptions.
