Huawei introduced its first emotional companion pet powered by artificial intelligence, the Smart Hanhan, during the launch event for the Mate 80 series. The device is available on Huawei Mall with a price tag of approximately $56 or 399 yuan.
Immediately after listing, all three color options were quickly sold out within seconds. Unlike simple toys, the Smart Hanhan focuses on providing emotional support through its compact and plush design. It measures 80 x 68 x 82 millimeters without limbs and weighs just 140 grams.
Constructed from soft plush material combined with silicon, plastic, and internal electronics, it aims to provide a comfortable and engaging companion for users. The Smart Hanhan utilizes the Xiaoyi broad model AI system developed by Huawei, which supports natural and emotionally aware conversations. This system analyzes changes in tone, emotional cues, and context, making its responses feel personalized and intelligent.
Reacting to touch, sound, or movement, every interaction triggers a unique reaction from the toy. For instance, touching its head or petting it changes facial expressions, while gently shaking it causes excitement-induced tremors. The Smart Hanhan comes with an 1800mAh battery capable of providing up to six hours of uninterrupted interaction under normal daily use.
Charging the device fully takes approximately six hours. It is compatible with smartphones running HarmonyOS 5.0 or later, including models like the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate X7, and Mate 80 RS. The toy connects to these phones via Bluetooth to log emotional interactions and record daily engagements as memory inputs.
