Huawei has officially launched its flagship smartphones, Huawei Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro. The event marks the introduction of two models that share many components but offer distinct features. Both devices boast a high-performance screen with impressive specifications.
Both phones feature an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz on their 6.75-inch LTPO OLED panel, supporting a resolution of 1280×2832 pixels and up to 1 billion colors. Huawei claims that the screen has the highest brightness ever seen in a phone at 8,000 nits and features second-generation Kunlun Glass for protection.
The Mate 80 Pro comes equipped with Kirin 9030 chipset while the standard Mate 80 uses Kirin 9020. Huawei asserts that the Kirin 9030 is 35% faster than the Kirin 9020, and the Kirin 9020 itself is a 35% improvement over its predecessor, Kirin 9010. The top-tier Mate 80 Pro Max model features an even more advanced processor, the Kirin 9030 Pro, which reportedly runs 42% faster than the Kirin 9020.
Both devices are powered by a robust 5,750 mAh battery. The Mate 80 Pro offers faster charging speeds with 100W wired and 80W wireless options compared to the Mate 80’s respectable 66W wired and 50W wireless.
For photography enthusiasts, both phones carry a triple-camera setup at the back. The standard model includes a versatile 50MP wide-angle camera with RYYB sensor, complemented by a 40MP ultra-wide angle lens, while the Mate 80 Pro adds an enhanced telephoto module.
