Huawei introduced its latest premium smartphone, the Mate 80 Pro Max, in China today. The device stands out as Huawei’s most robust flagship offering, featuring an all-metal body enhanced with second-generation Kunlun glass for superior durability. It boasts impressive dust and water resistance ratings of IP69 and IP68.
The standout feature is the dual-layer OLED display, which achieves a remarkable peak brightness of 8000 nits. This innovative screen technology also offers improved efficiency and contrast. The Mate 80 Pro Max’s display measures 6.9 inches with a 120Hz refresh rate, a wide color gamut (10-bit), high-frequency PWM dimming at 1440Hz, and a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz.
In terms of performance, the new device is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chip paired with Huawei’s Ark Graphics Engine. This combination ensures smoother app loading (34% faster) and overall responsiveness (45% better). Additionally, it supports advanced gaming features like 3DGS rendering acceleration and hardware-accelerated ray tracing capable of processing up to 20 million rays per second.
Connectivity is a key highlight with the Mate 80 Pro Max offering Wi-Fi 7 Plus, Tiantong satellite communication, Beidou satellite messaging, and support for 700MHz emergency communications in areas without network coverage. The phone’s cameras feature Huawei’s second-generation Maple Leaf Imaging System with an upgraded primary imaging sensor boasting a 96% increase in total light intake.
