Official teaser image showcasing the sleek design of the new MatePad Edge
Huawei has unveiled its latest tablet, the MatePad Edge, featuring an unprecedented amount of RAM—24GB. Set to launch on November 25th alongside the Mate 80 RS and Mate X7 smartphones, this 2-in-1 device marks a significant advancement in the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
The MatePad Edge boasts a large 14.2-inch OLED screen capable of adapting between tablet and laptop modes, offering versatility for both entertainment and work purposes. According to tech enthusiast site Digital Chat Station, the high-end model will also come equipped with a Kirin 9-series chipset designed specifically for PCs, ensuring performance isn’t compromised by thermal constraints thanks to an active cooling fan.
Additional features include glare-reducing display options under the Soft Light edition and an ergonomic keyboard that supports multi-angle hovering. The keyboard integrates a Free Touch pressure-sensitive trackpad and includes a 65W charging port for quick recharging needs, enhancing user convenience.
The MatePad Edge is positioned as Huawei’s first HarmonyOS-powered 2-in-1 device, shifting away from previous Windows-based configurations seen in the MateBook E lineup since its debut in 2021. It represents a strategic move towards consolidating its ecosystem under a single OS platform, aiming to provide users with a seamless and integrated computing experience.
