Huawei Unveils Release Date for New Tablet MatePad Edge

Huawei is preparing to unveil its latest tablet device, the MatePad Edge, alongside the Mate 80 series and foldable Mate X7 model during an event scheduled in China on November 25th. The new generation tablet aims to cater to professional users with advanced hardware features and a design that integrates two devices into one.

The MatePad Edge runs on HarmonyOS and is designed to function as both a portable computer and a tablet thanks to its detachable keyboard feature. It also comes equipped with an adjustable stand, enabling the device to be used in various positions, along with a rear dual-sensor camera integrated within a circular module.

The Huawei online store Vmall has opened pre-orders for several variants of the MatePad Edge. The device will be available in two color options: Moonlight Silver and Space Grey. It features hardware configurations ranging from 16GB RAM and 256GB storage to the highest-end model with 32GB RAM and up to 2TB internal storage.

The tablet is set to sport a 14.2-inch display, complemented by an optional anti-glare screen panel. Powering this device will be Huawei’s proprietary Kirin 9 PC-class processor, along with an active cooling fan to minimize heating during extended use – a significant advantage for users dealing with heavy workloads.

The detachable keyboard accessory of the MatePad Edge includes advanced features such as a fast charging port capable of delivering up to 65W power and key travel distance measuring 1.8mm, enhancing user comfort through a touch-sensitive trackpad.

Despite lacking detailed performance benchmarks for its Kirin 9 processor, the device’s high RAM capacity and active cooling system hint at its suitability not just for light use but also for professional applications like video editing, graphic design, and multitasking.
