The Smart Hanhan, an advanced emotional support plush toy by Huawei.
Huawei Technologies has seen strong demand for its new artificial intelligence toy, the Smart Hanhan. Within just a week of launching, over 10,000 units were sold as consumers embrace interactive playthings powered by AI technology.
The emotional support plush toy comes with a price tag of 399 yuan (US$57). Smart Hanhan uses advanced recognition technologies to engage users through voice and touch, adding an element of fun when it refuses to follow instructions precisely or adds playful comments.
Compatible with HarmonyOS 5.0 or later, the toy integrates seamlessly with other Huawei devices, enhancing user experience. It also features Huawei’s intelligent assistant, Xiaoyi, for natural conversations, making interactions more engaging and realistic.
The Chinese market for AI toys is forecasted to grow from US$3.5 billion this year to a staggering US$12 billion by 2030. This surge reflects the growing interest among consumers towards smart devices that offer companionship and entertainment.
One customer review noted that while Smart Hanhan’s features are somewhat limited, such expectations are reasonable given it is a first-generation product. The feedback suggests room for improvements but acknowledges the toy’s potential to advance in future iterations.
This growth in China aligns with global trends as well. Research firm IMARK Group predicts that by 2033, the worldwide market for AI toys will be worth US$60 billion, up from an estimated US$18.1 billion this year.
The strong demand is particularly evident in North America and Asia where high internet penetration and smartphone usage contribute to a thriving e-commerce environment for these advanced playthings.
Smart Hanhan offers interactive companionship through voice, touch, and movement recognition. It integrates with HarmonyOS and uses Xiaoyi for natural conversations.
