Huawei’s ‘Wide-Screen Smartphone’ Rumored for Q4 2025 Release

According to a recent blog post by the tech blogger @数码闲聊站, a Top5 manufacturer is currently testing what could be referred to as a “wide-screen smartphone”. This device, distinct from foldable phones, features a wider screen than standard models but not as expansive as those seen in folding devices. The rumored release of this phone hinges on successful testing and development.

The so-called wide-screen smartphone is speculated to mirror the design ethos of the Huawei Pura X, which was launched earlier this year with an innovative 6.3-inch 16:10 aspect ratio display. This Pura X model not only comes equipped with a high-resolution screen but also supports a range of advanced features such as LTPO 2.0 adaptive refresh rates and HDR Vivid technology.

One crucial advantage the wide-screen design offers is an enhanced reading experience due to its increased width, which has been highlighted by Huawei’s senior executive, Yu Chengdong. In fact, market research suggests that there is a significant interest in such devices, as evidenced by accessories like protective cases specifically designed for phones with this unique screen format.

The wide-screen smartphone would likely run on HarmonyOS 5, the latest iteration of Huawei’s proprietary operating system. This OS, which has been praised for its user-friendly interface and robust performance optimization features, is anticipated to enhance the overall experience of the new device even further.

While the specific manufacturer remains unnamed in this preliminary report, it’s clear that one of the Top5 brands is positioning itself at the forefront of innovation with a novel wide-screen smartphone. If the testing phase proves successful, the product could make its debut in the second half of 2025.

With numerous technological advancements and an increasing consumer demand for more immersive viewing experiences, this rumored wide-screen smartphone represents a significant evolution in mobile device design that could reshape how we interact with smartphones. Stay tuned for further updates as development progresses!
