The latest from Huawei, showcasing the four models of the Mate 80 series.
Earlier this week, Huawei unveiled its latest lineup of flagship smartphones – the Mate 80 series. The collection includes four models: Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max, and Mate 80 RS Ultimate Edition. Each model is powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin chipset, runs on HarmonyOS 6, and boasts premium designs along with advanced camera and display technology.
The standard Mate 80 comes equipped with the Kirin 9020, targeting users who want flagship-level features without breaking the bank. The Mate 80 Pro and Mate 80 Pro Max both feature upgraded Kirin 9030/Kirin 9030 Pro processors for enhanced performance. The top-tier RS Ultimate Edition also uses the Kirin 9030 chip but offers a massive 20GB of RAM.
Design-wise, all Mate 80 series devices sport a unique dual-ring structure with glass and metal materials plus brocade fiber for durability. They are water-resistant (IP68/IP69) and include Xuanwu mid frames and Kunlun Glass for protection. Each model features an OLED display: the base models have a 6.75-inch LTPO screen with a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz, while the Pro Max and Ultimate Editions feature a larger 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display offering up to 8000 nits of peak brightness.
Cameras in the Mate 80 series are equipped with advanced imaging systems powered by Huawei’s XMAGE technology. The top-end models, Pro Max and Ultimate Edition, feature a large main camera sensor (1/1.28 inch) with 10-stop variable aperture and support for a teleconverter photography kit. These models also include ultra-wide, macro, and super-telephoto lenses offering up to 6.2x optical zoom and 12.4x ‘optical-quality’ digital zoom.
