Huawei can design Kirin chipsets itself, but it requires US companies for production. The Mate 40 model may be the last phone to use the HiSilicon Kirin chipset.
Semiconductor manufacturers using American technologies cannot obtain a license to work with Huawei. The world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.) announced that it will not produce Huawei HiSilicon architecture to comply with the US rule. Due to US companies, Huawei will not be able to produce Kirin after September 15th.
