## Google Updates Wearables with Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a
Google has announced two new additions to its wearable lineup: the Pixel Watch 4 and the Pixel Buds 2a. The updates focus on performance enhancements and affordability, respectively, building upon previous iterations of the popular devices.
### Pixel Watch 4: Performance and Visibility Upgrades
The Pixel Watch 4 maintains the familiar design of its predecessor but introduces several key improvements. The smartwatch now features a brighter display capable of reaching 3,000 nits, providing excellent visibility outdoors. A new Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset and accompanying AON co-processor contribute to improved performance and significantly extended battery life, offering up to 30 hours on the 41mm model and 40 hours on the 45mm model with Always-On Display enabled. Charging has also been accelerated with a new side-docking station, and the device integrates with Google’s Gemini AI for convenient wrist-based interaction. The Pixel Watch 4 runs Wear OS 6 and is available in 41mm (€399/ $349) and 45mm (€449/ $399) sizes, with LTE connectivity available for an additional cost. Active bands come in Obsidian, Porcelain, and Moonstone; Sport bands are Indigo, Limoncello, and Iris.
### Pixel Buds 2a Offer Affordable Audio
Targeting a more budget-conscious consumer, the Pixel Buds 2a offer a notable upgrade over the original Pixel Buds A series launched in 2020, while providing a more accessible alternative to the Pixel Buds Pro 2. The earbuds feature active noise cancellation, spatial audio (without head tracking), and a focus on comfortable wear. They offer 7 hours of playback with an additional 20 hours provided by the charging case. Available in Gray and Iris, the Pixel Buds 2a retail for €149 in Europe and $129 in the US.
### Context and Future Expectations
While the latest Pixel Watch 4 demonstrates advancements in smartwatch technology, some consumers continue to desire longer battery life, with many hoping for a single charge to last closer to 300 hours, or over 12 days.
