Turkish photographer Mehmet Emin Coruş has earned a significant place on the global stage with his recent achievement at the prestigious Huawei XMAGE Mobile Photography Awards. In November 2025, during an awards ceremony held in Paris, France, Coruş emerged as one of the finalists for ‘Photographer of the Year,’ placing second globally. His accolade comes after a journey that started with a Huawei phone gifted to him while working as a baker in Tokat.
The photograph recognized by the jury captures a unique moment: a farmer carrying a newborn mandrill kid back to its shelter from the cold, while the mother closely follows, never taking her eyes off her child. This image was selected for the award due to its portrayal of the serene and silent cooperation between humans, animals, and nature. The Huawei XMAGE Mobile Photography Awards are considered one of the most prestigious competitions in mobile photography, with entries coming from over 170 countries.
Mehmet Emin Coruş’s journey to becoming a professional photographer began quite unexpectedly. While working as a baker in Tokat, he received a Huawei phone as a gift and fell in love with mobile photography. Since then, his career has seen remarkable growth, particularly with previous accolades such as the first-place win at the XMAGE Awards Turkey edition in both 2021 and 2022.
Turkey continues to make a significant impact on the Huawei XMAGE competition, showcasing strong participation from its photography community.
