Why Honor Magic 8 Pro EU Version Falls Short on Battery Life

EU Model of Honor Magic 8 Pro Gets Smaller Battery

European tech enthusiasts looking forward to the release of the Honor Magic 8 Pro are in for a bit of disappointment. According to recent reports, the EU variant will come equipped with a significantly smaller battery compared to its Chinese counterpart.

Battery Capacity Differences Unveiled

The European edition of the Honor Magic 8 Pro reportedly features a 6,270 mAh battery, which is noticeably smaller than the 7,200 mAh version found in the Chinese model. This equates to approximately 13% less capacity and falls short by around 930 mAh.

GSMArena, a reputable tech news site, claims to have received first-hand confirmation about this discrepancy. The company hasn’t provided an official statement yet, but it’s speculated that EU-specific regulations on safety, recycling, and transportation might be the cause of this difference.

Globally Released Model Compromise

It’s worth noting that the global version of the Honor Magic 8 Pro offers a compromise between these two extremes. The battery capacity for the international model is reported to be around 7,100 mAh—still substantial but not as large as its Chinese sibling.

Charging Capabilities Under Scrutiny

The EU variant isn’t just lacking in terms of battery size; charging speed also seems to take a hit. The European version supports 100W wired charging, whereas the Chinese release includes both 120W wired and 80W wireless charging options.

Technical Specifications Remain Unchanged

Beyond these battery-related changes, the Honor Magic 8 Pro EU variant maintains identical specifications to its Chinese counterpart. The device packs a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite chipset, a large 6.71-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution, and an impressive triple camera setup featuring a primary 50MP lens, a periscope telephoto unit capable of 85mm focal length (200MP), and a wide-angle sensor also at 50MP. The front-facing camera matches the quality with its 50MP module.

Conclusion: Weighing Pros and Cons

The Honor Magic 8 Pro EU edition presents a compelling package despite the battery capacity compromise. With robust performance thanks to its high-end Snapdragon processor, vibrant display technology, and top-notch camera system, it’s certainly not without its merits. However, potential buyers will need to carefully consider if the reduced battery and charging speed are deal-breakers for them.
