Wyze is launching a new, more affordable battery-powered video doorbell as well as a new tilt and pan camera that just needs an hour of sunlight to keep running.
Available starting today, the Wyze Solar Cam Pan is the latest addition to the company’s tilt-and-pan lineup. This new option is similar to the base Cam Pan V3, but with the addition of a built-in solar panel. The panel can be directly mounted alongside the camera itself, or mounted nearby on a wire to get better sun exposure.
Wyze says that the high-efficiency ETFE solar panel needs just an hour of sunlight per day for continuous power with a battery inside that keeps the camera running when solar charging isn’t available. Like other tilt-and-pan cameras from Wyze, it can obtain a 360-degree view and 70-degree vertical view. The camera itself is a 2K sensor with color night vision.
The Wyze Solar Cam Pan is available starting today for $79.98 and should be on Wyze’s website as well as Amazon.
Next in line is a new battery-powered doorbell. Launching October 23, the new Wyze Battery Video Doorbell arrives to fill a hole in the company’s lineup.
This battery-powered doorbell has a 150-degree video angle both vertically and horizontally – not all that different from Google’s latest Nest Doorbell – and connects to a wireless chime. It can also be hardwired if you have that option. It supports 24/7 local recording to a microSD card if you do hardwire it. Through the Wyze app, you can get package notifications with a Cam Plus subscription, as well as being able to set up automatic responses when someone rings the doorbell.
When used wirelessly on battery power, Wyze says the doorbell will last up to six months.
As for pricing, the Wyze Battery Video Doorbell will cost $65.98 and, as mentioned, will be available starting later this week.
