Apple is reportedly working on a large foldable device, with rumors suggesting an 18-inch foldable iPad could be in development. While speculation has circulated regarding whether this device will be positioned as an iPad or a Mac, consistent reports indicate a significant screen size.
The device is anticipated to feature an 18-inch display sourced from Samsung. Apple’s focus is reportedly on minimizing crease visibility on the flexible screen. Initial prototypes are said to weigh approximately 1.6 kg due to the large screen size and aluminum casing, potentially making it significantly heavier than the current 13-inch iPad Pro.
Sources suggest the foldable iPad could launch as early as 2029. The price point is projected to be considerably higher than the current 13-inch iPad Pro, which retails for $1300. If component costs remain high over the coming years, the foldable iPad’s price could reach up to $3900.
Apple’s first foldable device is expected to be an iPhone, potentially launching next year. While previously rumored to debut with the iPhone 18 series, recent information suggests the release may be delayed.
