I removed every ad from Windows 11 and it only took 6 steps

Windows 11 doesn't throw ads in your face the way websites do, but it still slips in promotions across the system. The Start menu can suggest apps you never searched for, the Settings app shows recommended content, and File Explorer occasionally displays a OneDrive banner. I ignored most of it for a long time because it blended in so well that it didn't feel like something I could turn off. Over time, though, I started noticing how often those prompts appeared and got curious about how much of it was built in. I opened the settings just to check, expecting most of it to be hardwired into the system. Instead, I found that most of the ads and suggestions were controlled by simple toggles. Samsung halts One UI 8 rollout for Galaxy S23 family

Samsung started rolling out the update to One UI 8 based on Android 16 to the Galaxy S23 devices in late September, around three weeks ago. Everything was going well, until it wasn't. The rollout is currently paused, and it's unclear when it will be resumed, so if you have a handset that's part of that family and haven't received the update yet, chances are you're in for a longer wait than you were expecting. Samsung hasn't revealed why it's taken this step either. There don't seem to be any widespread reports of big issues from people that have installed the update. That said, the company has surely found something that needed fixing and decided to halt the rollout out of an abundance of caution. Hopefully it manages to fix whatever the problem was quickly and the rollout can resume soone...

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg Subpoenaed in Youth Mental Health Lawsuit

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, faces a significant legal challenge as California Supreme Court has ordered CEO Mark Zuckerberg to testify in a series of consolidated lawsuits alleging the company knowingly designed platforms to be addictive, particularly impacting young users. The lawsuits assert that Meta and other social media platforms utilized algorithms intended to maximize engagement, allegedly leading to harmful consequences. Previous attempts by the companies to prevent high-ranking executives from appearing in court were rejected. The judge emphasized the importance of these testimonies in determining whether company executives were aware of any damages caused by the platforms, should liability be established. During the testimonies, the court will investiga...

4 PC component temperatures you should be monitoring (besides CPU and GPU)

They are, after all, your system's workhorses, and any thermal throttling here is either going to cost you frame rates in your beloved games or show up as mischievous performance lags. But what most PC owners don't realize very well is that a handful of other components can also run quite hot, sometimes escaping notice until issues arise. From system instability and sluggish data transfer speeds to memory training errors and shortened hardware lifespan, neglecting the thermal p
