Huawei Mate 80 Teaser Reveals Multispectral Camera Technology

Huawei has unveiled a teaser for its upcoming premium smartphone series, the Huawei Mate 80. The highlight of this release is the introduction of a new multispectral camera technology that aims to redefine smartphone photography by surpassing traditional RGB sensors with capabilities such as capturing near-infrared light. This innovation promises more natural color rendering, precise skin tone depiction, and realistic surface structure representation.

The teaser video shows an ultra-vision sensor paired with next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) for advanced image processing and analysis. The integration of a Kirin high-end chipset like the 9000 S+ or 9020 is expected to power this technology, enabling real-time light signature processing and dynamic depth reconstruction.

The camera module design features a circular shape with a glossy finish, slightly different from its predecessor but modernized. The Mate 80 series launch in China is scheduled for December 2025, alongside the Pro and RS variants with extended camera functions and larger batteries. International releases are anticipated to follow early in 2026.
