Geekbench benchmarks reveal the performance specs of the Kirin 9030 inside the upcoming Mate 80 series.
Huawei is set to unveil its upcoming Mate 80 series today, featuring the newly developed Kirin 9030 chipset. A pre-release model of the Mate 80 Pro Max appeared on Geekbench, revealing key hardware details about the processor.
The benchmark tests show that the Kirin 9030 consists of a nine-core CPU with a unique architecture: one core running at 2.75GHz, four cores operating at 2.27GHz, and another set of four cores clocked at 1.72GHz. This is a significant change from the previous model’s eight-core design, aiming to enhance performance.
The GPU component identified in the tests is the Maleoon 935. The device used for testing has 16GB of RAM. According to tech enthusiast Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the chip was not operating at its peak frequency during these benchmarks, suggesting that actual capabilities could be higher than indicated.
The scores from Geekbench place the Kirin 9030 around the performance level expected for a mid-range Qualcomm or MediaTek SoC. The single-core test returned 1131 points while the multi-core benchmark scored 4277 points. Although these figures are below leading competitors, the transition to a nine-core architecture from an eight-core setup signals Huawei’s commitment to advancing its mobile technology.
For context, the Kirin 9020 had a more traditional eight-core layout with one core at 2.5GHz, three cores at 2.15GHz, and four cores at 1.6GHz, alongside the Maleoon 920 GPU. With official details set to be announced today by Huawei, these benchmarks offer early insight into the Kirin 9030’s capabilities.
