Huawei Unveils FreeBuds Pro 5 with Advanced Active Noise Cancellation and Seamless Sound Support

Huawei has announced its latest wireless earbuds model, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5, alongside a lineup of new devices including the Mate 80 series smartphones, foldable Mate X7 smartphone, and the MatePad Edge tablet. Positioned in the premium segment, the FreeBuds Pro 5 stands out for its advanced features such as seamless sound transmission and active noise cancellation (ANC).

The FreeBuds Pro 5 integrates Huawei’s newly developed Kirin A3 chip, which supports NearLink E2.0 connection technology, enabling seamless sound transfer up to a rate of 4.6 Mbps. Each earbud houses an ultra-linear dual-magnet bass driver and a flat-plane treble driver, aiming for balanced audio quality across all frequencies.

The FreeBuds Pro 5 also supports Bluetooth 6.0, offering quick device switching and simultaneous multi-connection capabilities, enhancing user experience. The earbuds are rated at IP57 waterproof protection while the charging case has an IP54 rating. In terms of battery life, with ANC turned off, the earbuds can last up to 8 hours on a single charge, extending to 33 hours when used with the charging case. With ANC enabled, usage time is up to 5 hours per charge and 22 hours total including the case.

Available in four color options—Earthy Shadow Gray, Frost Silver, Snow White, and Sky Blue vegan leather—the FreeBuds Pro 5 aims to cater to diverse aesthetic preferences. Currently available exclusively through Huawei’s official website in China for 1,449 Chinese Yuan (approximately $870 USD), the device’s international release date is yet to be announced.
