Mehmet Emin Coruş has achieved a remarkable milestone with his recent win in the prestigious Huawei XMAGE 2025 photography competition. The honor is attributed to a series of photographs he captured in Pazar, Tokat, showcasing the serene and harmonious relationship between humans, animals, and nature.
Corus’s winning photograph depicts a farmer transporting a newborn goat kid into its shelter for warmth from the cold winter weather, closely followed by the mother goat. The image resonates with the jury due to its portrayal of the seamless connection between living beings and their environment. Coruş’s journey in photography began with a Huawei phone gifted to him during his time as a bakery craftsman in Tokat.
Previously awarded first place in the XMAGE Awards’ Turkish segment for two consecutive years, 2021 and 2022, this recent accolade elevates Coruş’s achievements on an international stage. In his congratulatory message delivered via recorded video to those present at the award ceremony, Coruş expressed gratitude towards Huawei and everyone who supported him in chasing their dreams with heart.
“When I was kneading dough, walking through my village, these were the moments where I would dream big,” he shared. “Now those very dreams are expanding across the globe, captured through a camera lens on a Huawei phone.” Coruş’s heartfelt words underscore his appreciation for technology and its ability to connect people across the world.
In addition to Mehmet Emin Coruş, two other Turkish photographers, Hürdoğan Keskin and Koray Özpalamutçu, also made it onto the coveted ‘XMAGE 100’ list.
