It was learned that Richard Yu will head the Huawei Cloud and AI units. Currently Richard Yu is CEO of Technologies’ Consumer Business Group at Huawei. The Huwei company asked him to lead its work in the emerging cloud services and artificial intelligence field.
With his new role, Richard Yu will be the leader of two business units at Huawei. According to the information received, it was reported that he will officially undertake his new duties as of February 7, 2021. Former chairman Huo Jinlong, the company’s unit under the telecom equipment manufacturer carrier business group will be transferred to the digital power service.
According to Kitty Fok, managing director of IDC China, “Artificial intelligence and cloud computing are key growth areas in China over the next few years. Focusing and investing more in artificial intelligence and cloud computing is an important strategy for Huawei to seize future opportunities. “Unfortunately Huawei has declined to comment on the change in its internal management at this time. The report is also coming as the company is currently expanding and moving towards a newer growing market.
As US sanctions affect Huawei’s smartphone division, Huawei has caused the company to turn to and develop in different areas. He focused more on cloud computing services and other initiatives including cloud games, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. It is not yet clear what decisions will be made regarding Huawei, said Joe Biden, the new US president. But US bans will cause Huawei to grow in other areas as well.
