Huawei has finished team sponsorship of the Australian rugby league.
Huawei Australia division said in a statement. "We will end the sponsorship of the national rugby league team a year ago due to a decline in business."
The reason for the sponsorship ending is thought to be due to strained relations between Australia and China. In 2018, Australia became the first country to ban Huawei from 5G on national security grounds.
Jeremy Mitchell, corporate affairs manager at Huawei Australia; “Even after the Turnbull government banned us from 5G, we managed to find resources to continue sponsoring, but we can no longer financially support it,” he said.
