The 8 best games from Steam Next Fest that are now on my wishlist

The 2025 Steam Next Fest just wrapped up, and we just saw some of the most incredible indie and AA games that are on the horizon in the gaming landscape. There were more games in the Next Fest that you could shake a controller at, and I think it's pretty safe to say that the future of small indie games from all genres — those forgotten and those resurgent — is safe. Nothing sells you on a game better than a well-put-together demo, and the Next Fest had plenty. At this point, the only one unhappy with how diverse and promising this year's Steam Next Fest was, is my wallet. My wishlist, on the other hand, has expanded by a whopping number of games I simply can't wait to play by myself or with my friends, and they should be on yours, too. My Little Cafe Nightmare is a dark but cozy ride The o...

Spiro raises $100M, the largest-ever investment in Africa’s e-mobility

Africa’s electric mobility story has often been one of promise over progress. Infrastructure is scarce, power grids are unreliable, and most markets still run on cheap imported motorcycles. But Dubai-headquartered Spiro has spent the past two years trying to rewrite that narrative. The company just announced a $100 million investment round led by The Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA), the development arm of Afreximbank. The raise marks Africa’s largest-ever EV mobility investment and cements Spiro as the continent’s most aggressive electric motorbike company. Spiro says it plans to deploy more than 100,000 electric bikes across Africa by the end of 2025, a 400% year-over-year jump that underscores its ambition to dominate a category long considered too fragmented to scale. Spiro...

KEF’s Coda W speaker aims to write another chapter in its illustrious story

For sixty years, British speaker manufacturer KEF has been pursuing high-quality sound, and they’re looking to produce yet another example of their prowess in the area with the Coda W speaker. The Coda W is an all-in-one speaker system, built for the streaming age and intended to offer wireless high-fidelity sound. Perhaps surprisingly, it does offer any Wi-Fi support but if that’s what you’re after, KEF does offer that functionality through its LSX speakers. As is typical of any new KEF speaker launch, the driver is a 5.25-inch 12th gen Uni-Q driver, which KEF claims will be able to reproduce sound naturally thanks to the tweeter (high frequency driver) being positioned at the “precise acoustic centre of the woofer”. By doing this, KEF says the speaker can disperse sound uniformly through...
I’ve tried some of the most powerful handheld PCs, but this pocket console still wins for me

I’ve tried some of the most powerful handheld PCs, but this pocket console still wins for me

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love handheld gaming. I would jealously stare at the kids in class who had Game Boys or Game Gears, wishing one were mine. That was because of the rule that no video games were allowed in the housegrowing up, so I didn't get one of my own until many years later. Since then, I've owned or used a wide range, mostly from Nintendo, until the explosion of the PC gaming handheld market in recent years. But while I use my ROG Ally X for many things, my Nintendo Switch 2 for couch gaming, and have a Steam Deck and Lenovo Legion Go to round out the collection, they're all beaten in sheer hours used by one pocketable handheld that doesn't even have internal memory to store games. The ModRetro Chromatic uses Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges, whether they're ...

Huawei Guardbanding Improves Chip Reliability Assurance

## Semiconductor Manufacturers Increasingly Employ Guardbanding for Enhanced Reliability Semiconductor manufacturers are prioritizing the identification and removal of partially defective die, often referred to as "marginal" die, to bolster product reliability. These die may initially pass final electrical tests but can exhibit failures under ongoing stress, a critical concern for sectors like automotive and medical device manufacturing. To address this, the industry is increasingly adopting a process called guardbanding. ### What is Guardbanding and Why is it Shifting In-Line? Guardbanding involves updating wafer map coordinates to mark suspect die as unusable and expanding this exclusion to surrounding die as a safety buffer. Traditionally implemented at the end-of-line, guardbanding ...

Huawei’s Kirin 9020 Integrates 5G, Defies Sanctions

## Huawei's Kirin 9020 Integrates 5G Modem, Marking Technological Progress Huawei has released the Kirin 9020 processor, a key component in its Mate 90 and Pura 80 smartphone lines, incorporating a 5G modem directly into the chip's design. This development highlights the company’s continued investment in domestic semiconductor development amidst ongoing U.S. trade restrictions. The integration of a 5G modem into a processor is a technically challenging feat, requiring expertise in radio frequency (RF) design and adherence to global standards. The Kirin 9020 utilizes Arm cores (up to 2.50 GHz) and a Mali-based GPU (840 MHz) and is manufactured using a 7nm-class fabrication process by Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC). A key feature is the inclusion of Huawei’s B...

Huawei to Unveil New Products on 14 September

We think that Huawei will introduce the Watch GT4 series and new wearable products within the scope of the new event to be organised by Huawei. We also expect the event to give clues about global market sales for the Mate 60 Pro. We think the event will primarily introduce Watch GT 4, it will most likely be the first Huawei wearable product to come out of the box with HarmonyOS 4.0 and will maintain its claim of at least 14 days of battery life. We do not expect major changes in design, but the scope of colour options may be increased. Huawei had already received Bluetooth certification for the Watch GT 4 series and we knew that this promotion would take place. https://twitter.com/HuaweiMobile/status/1698606894594605489 Although we do not know all the products within the scope o...

Huawei Smart Car Store

Back in 2021, Huawei sold its first smart cars at its flagship stores across China. The cars, which consist of two models, were sold at 216,800 yuan and 246,800 yuan. The move came after its mainstay smartphone and network gear businesses reel under the impact of US restrictions that cut off its access to high-end chips. Now, the brand is reportedly building an independent smart car store to sell cars to the world. According to the report, Huawei smart car store is different from the current mobile phone store, and it is dedicated to selling models of the Huawei smart car ecological alliance with the current AITO Wenjie series on sale, as well as the planned cooperative models of Chery, JAC, Jihu and other brands. Unfortunately, the report did not reveal the location of the Huaw...
