Tesla has announced a recall of thousands of its vehicles after a defect in a battery‑module contactor was found to cause sudden power loss. The recall covers 2025 Model 3 and 2026 Model Y cars produced between 8 March 2025 and 12 August 2025, and 15 March 2025 and 15 August 2025 respectively, for which the defective contactor can interrupt power delivery while driving. The problem was traced to a solenoid contactor integrated into the battery module that fails to operate at the expected quality level. When the contactor opens, the vehicle’s power path is severed, resulting in abrupt loss of performance.
