A Tesla driver in Barrington Hills, Illinois, is facing charges after colliding with a South Barrington police vehicle last week. The driver reportedly claimed to have been asleep at the time of the incident and attributed the collision to the Tesla’s Autopilot system.

According to police reports, the driver was questioned following the accident and stated they fell asleep while the vehicle was in Autopilot mode. Fortunately, the two officers in the patrol vehicle sustained no serious injuries. Images depicting damage to the police vehicle were released by authorities.

The Barrington Hills Police Department has arrested the driver on multiple charges related to the incident. This case has re-ignited discussions surrounding the safe and responsible use of driver-assistance systems.

Tesla’s Autopilot is classified as a Level 2 driver-assistance system, not a fully autonomous system (Level 5). This classification requires the driver to remain fully attentive, keep their hands on the steering wheel, and be prepared to take control at any time.

If the driver’s claim of falling asleep is accurate, the incident raises questions about potential flaws in the system’s safety mechanisms. Typically, a vehicle should issue repeated visual and audible warnings if it detects driver inattentiveness and subsequently deactivate the system. Authorities are investigating whether the driver ignored these warnings or potentially disabled the steering torque sensors through deceptive means.

“Vehicle automation technology continues to advance and can enhance safety when used correctly,” said South Barrington Deputy Police Chief Adam Puralewski. “However, it is important to remember that drivers are always responsible for the safe operation of their vehicles.”

Tesla has announced a recall of thousands of its vehicles after a defect in a battery‑module contactor was found to cause sudden power loss. The recall covers 2025 Model 3 and 2026 Model Y cars produced between 8 March 2025 and 12 August 2025, and 15 March 2025 and 15 August 2025 respectively, for which the defective contactor can interrupt power delivery while driving.

The problem was traced to a solenoid contactor integrated into the battery module that fails to operate at the expected quality level. When the contactor opens, the vehicle’s power path is severed, resulting in abrupt loss of performance. Tesla reviewed 36 warranty claims and 26 in‑field reports and determined that the failure rate was higher than acceptable.

According to the company, approximately 8 000 Model Y and 5 000 Model 3 vehicles were produced during the affected periods and are now subject to the recall. Owners are advised to bring their cars to a Tesla service center as soon as possible. Tesla will replace the faulty contactor with a certified, free of charge part. The recall is described as a critical step to address both cost and customer safety concerns.

The recall highlights the importance of supply‑chain quality control in the electric‑vehicle sector. Tesla has announced that it will tighten its oversight of the component supplier and expects to issue additional communications to restore consumer confidence. The incident also poses a risk to Tesla’s brand image, which has long been associated with innovation and reliability.

Apple has been on the agenda of automobile news for a long time. So how much will the Apple car price be? But there has been no official development on Apple cars until today. Usually we heard about patent news.

The news leak about the Apple car came from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg made new statements on the subject. He said that the project is shrinking, the launch date has also been delayed and may be delayed to 2026.

Apple would produce a tool that was ahead of its time. In the car previously thought, there would be no steering wheel and pedal, and the vehicle would be fully autonomous. Mark Gurman said that the fully autonomous car has been shelved for now. According to new sensations, Apple will produce a traditional car with a steering wheel and pedals, like other cars on the market. The newly produced car is expected to have a partially autonomous driving system. Let us remind you that the partially autonomous driving system is currently available in Tesla models.

What will be the price of the new Apple Otoline? According to the latest news, Apple’s car is said to be priced under 100 thousand dollars. At this price, we think it can compete with Tesla’s Model S car.
