The founder of the Chinese tech giant said that Huawei Technologies has replaced more than 13,000 parts in its products affected by the US trade sanctions, according to a transcript released by a Chinese university on Friday (March 17).

According to the text of the February speech released by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Ren Zhengfei said that in the past three years, Huawei has replaced 13,000 components with domestic Chinese counterparts and redesigned 4,000 circuit boards for its products, “stabilizing” the production of circuit boards.

The statements, which Reuters could not independently verify, provided a window into Huawei’s efforts to bounce back from US trade restrictions. Since 2019, Huawei, a major supplier of equipment used in 5G telecommunications networks, has repeatedly been the target of US export controls.

These controls cut off both Huawei’s supply of chips from US companies and access to US technology tools to design and manufacture its own chips by its partners.

Huawei’s logo is seen at an exhibition in Paris on Jun 15, 2022.
The Biden administration also banned the sale of new Huawei equipment in the US last year. The university said Ren said these words in a conversation with Chinese technologists on February 24. A US-based Huawei representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday.

Ren said Huawei has invested US$23.8 billion in research and development in 2022 and that “we will continue to increase R&D spending as our profitability grows.” The founder said the company has built its own enterprise resource planning system called MetaERP. It will launch in April and will help run core business functions including finance, supply chain and manufacturing operations.

Ren said Huawei has no plans to launch a competitor to the wildly popular big language model artificial intelligence ChatGPT, but Microsoft, a backer of OpenAI, the app’s developer, won’t be the only dominant player. He said Huawei is focused on being the “core computing power platform” of artificial intelligence.

The Biden administration has banned the approval of new telecommunications equipment from China’s Huawei Technologies and ZTE because they pose an “unacceptable risk” to US national security.

China’s surveillance equipment manufacturer Dahua Technology, video surveillance firm Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, and telecom firm Hytera Communications have also passed final rules banning the sale or import of equipment manufactured by the US Federal Communications Commission, the US Federal Communications Commission said on Friday, November 25.

The move represents Washington’s latest crackdown on Chinese tech giants amid fears Beijing could use Chinese tech companies to spy on Americans. “These new rules are an important part of our ongoing actions to protect the American people from national security threats involving telecommunications,” FCC Chairman Jessica Rosenworcel said in a statement. Said.

Huawei declined to comment. ZTE, Dahua, Hikvision, and Hytera did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Rosenworcel handed out the proposed measure, which effectively blocks firms from selling new equipment in the US, to three other commissioners for final approval last month.

The FCC said in June 2021 it is considering banning all equipment authorizations for all companies on the covered list.

This comes after five Chinese companies were placed on the so-called “closed list” in March 2021 as a threat to national security under the 2019 law aimed at protecting US communications networks: Huawei, ZTE, Hytera Communications Corp Hikvision and Dahua.

All four commissioners in the agency, including two Republicans and two Democrats, supported Friday’s move.

Huawei made the biggest surprise in the Black Friday discounts in the USA and went for a hundred percent discount on smartphones. But what is the truth of this matter?

Black Friday is the first Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. This special day has been considered the start of the Christmas shopping season since 1932. Stores open very early and close late and offer unexpectedly discounted sales. We wanted to make this short briefing because many people interpret Black Friday differently. Black Friday, November 26, is approaching for America, and many manufacturers are giving serious discounts on almost all product lines. We can say that the most striking discount came from Huawei. Huawei America announced on its official Twitter account that it has made a hundred percent discount on all the smartphones we sell in the country.

Black Friday special! 100% OFF all phones we currently sell in the US.
— HuaweiUSA (@HuaweiUSA) November 22, 2021

Of course, many people who read the tweet will take this statement seriously. But Huawei is making a good reference to the US government here. As you know, Huawei has been subject to US government sanctions since 2019 on charges of espionage. American companies are prohibited from selling technology to Huawei, but this ban can be relaxed in some special cases. For example, Huawei continues to use the Windows operating system on computers or uses Qualcomm processors with 4G support in smartphones.

In our opinion, Huawei’s one hundred percent discount statement was one of the best submissions of the discount week. The company must have taken this statement so seriously that it had to make a new post. “Yeah guys, it’s just a joke. We can’t sell any products in America.”

(Reuters) – The US Senate on Thursday unanimously approved legislation to prevent companies such as Huawei Technologies Co Ltd or ZTE Corp, which are seen as security threats, from obtaining new equipment licenses from US regulators.

The Secure Equipment Act, the US government’s latest effort to crack down on Chinese telecom and technology companies, was passed by the US House by a 420-4 vote last week and now goes to President Joe Biden for his signature.

“Chinese state-run companies like Huawei and ZTE are known for national security threats and have no place in our telecommunications network,” Republican Senator Marco Rubio said. Said. The action will prohibit the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from reviewing or issuing new equipment licenses to companies on the FCC’s “Equipment or Services Covered List.”

In March, the FCC determined that five Chinese companies pose a threat to national security under a 2019 law aimed at protecting US communications networks.

Affected companies include the previously identified Huawei and ZTE, as well as Hytera Communications Corp, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co, and Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co.

In June, the FCC unanimously unanimously advanced its plan to ban equipment approvals from these Chinese companies in U.S. telecommunications networks, even if legislators followed the law to mandate it.

The FCC vote in June drew opposition from Beijing.

“The United States, without any evidence, is still abusing its state power to suppress national security and Chinese companies,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said in June.

Under the proposed rules, which received initial approval in June, the FCC may also revoke previous equipment permits granted to Chinese companies.

A spokesperson for Huawei, which has repeatedly denied being controlled by the Chinese government, declined to comment on Thursday, but called the proposed FCC revision in June “misguided and needlessly punitive”.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr said the commission has approved more than 3,000 applications from Huawei since 2018. Carr said Thursday that the bill “will help ensure that insecure equipment from companies like Huawei and ZTE can no longer be added to America’s communications networks.”

On Tuesday, the FCC voted to revoke China Telecom’s US subsidiary’s authorization to operate in the US, citing national security concerns. (Reporting by David Shepardson; Editing by Lincoln Feast.)
