According to reports, WeChat is gradually testing a feature that allows users on the HarmonyOS NEXT system to view live photos in their Moments. The update comes after previous iterations of this feature were rolled out for iOS and Android devices.
The new feature was first announced by WeChat last September, enabling users to share live photos on Moments starting with iOS 8.0.51 and later expanding to Android users this April. Now, HarmonyOS NEXT is being added to the list of supported systems as part of ongoing testing efforts.
A blogger named @YiyiWanShuMao shared today that WeChat’s HarmonyOS version is gradually rolling out a new update allowing users to view live photos in Moments. As a reference point, WeChat for Android received an 8.0.63 beta update on September 2nd this year with the official update log stating improvements to known issues. IT之家 tested and confirmed that this update includes support for sending LivePhoto through chat messages, compatible with devices from Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, Honor among others.
Moreover, in July of this year, WeChat also added the ability to send live photos via chats for iOS users on version 8.0.61 and above.
