Honor 9A received the Magic UI 3.1 software update in Europe. The latest update includes Petal Search, Knuckle movements and security updates. Update Magic UI 3.1 version 3.1.0.132 package size 756MB.

- System: Added petal search to widgets for easy application search.
- Security: Integrates Android security patches released in July 2020 for enhanced system security.
- Finger Joint Gestures added.
- Enabling Knuckle Gestures in Huawei EMUI
The Honor 9A has a water drop notch with a 6.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels for an 8 MP selfie camera. Works on Android 10 with Magic UI 3.1. Behind it is a 13 MP, 5 MP and 2 MP camera. The phone has a fingerprint scanner on the back and is powered by a 4900mAh battery.
