HUAWEI VR Glass production stopped

In September 2019, Huawei released HUAWEI VR Glass. According to media reports, it was stated that as of October this year, sales expectations were not good and around 300,000 HUAWEI VR Glass had been shipped. Unable to find the expected sales share, Huawei stopped production of HUAWEI VR Glass.

At the “World Virtual Reality Industry Conference” held in 2019, Huawei stated that VR / AR will be the first application group in the 5G era, and Huawei will build VR / AR to the next smartphone industry. But today, it was learned that HUAWEI VR Glass production has stopped.

Some parts of HUAWEI VR Glass need to be imported, which increases its cost. The price of 2,999 yuan ( 458 $ – 373 € ) is the same as the factory price. It’s actually sold at other costs, basically at a loss, and consumers don’t seem to buy.

HUAWEI VR Glass is not an all-in-one VR machine, that is, using it with a computer or mobile phone, if there is no hair on the skin, it is difficult to maintain due to its installation, only support some models (Mate 40 series, P40 series, Mate 30 series, P30 series, Mate 20 series etc.). These are some of the reasons for under-selling.

Of course it doesn’t mean that Huawei has quit the VR business. In the future, we can see new Huawei VR models with less cost and more features.
